ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I have always believed that my life is a compounded blessing of God & love from my family. How can I not start my statement by thanking the almighty for this!

 

Being the sole bread winner for a family of five and as any good father or husband would do, my focus has always been working hard for my company and providing my family with the best possible lifestyle.  Having worked for companies like Parle Biscuits, Siddhi Cements & Datamatics, and my job has always been demanding and I could never accommodate any of my personal interests.  In fact to be honest, I didn’t even have time to think what my personal interest could be.  I spent my spare time playing with my kids, clicking their photographs & making some random cartoons.  I always thought that my only savings for retirement were those memories. However, it was only few years back when I realised that it was much more than that.  I have kneaded a very strong and close knitted family who understand and support each other for anything and everything.  It is my family who helped me realise my talent.

 

When I started my relationship with paper and pencil, I never thought I would be able to take my art to this level & conduct an exhibition of my portraits.  It has been possible only because of motivation and suggestions from my well-wishers. A special thanks to every single appreciation and encouraging word which has made this work!  Even the signature on my work is a result of their love, let alone the art.  Being commonly known as Shivan among my near and dear ones, I chose to sign my portraits as Shivan’s.
